UPS Community Tree Planting Grant

Two local affiliates receive grants

LITTLE ROCK (May 15, 2013) – Keep Fayetteville Beautiful and Keep Ozark Beautiful, both certified local affiliates of Keep America Beautiful, have been chosen from among nearly 100 applicants to receive a Community Tree Planting grant from the UPS Foundation.

These two Arkansas organizations will each receive a $5,000 grant. The program’s purpose is to connect Keep America Beautiful certified affiliates with teams of local UPS employees who will provide volunteer support through beautification, community greening, litter prevention and waste-reduction initiatives.

Keep Fayetteville Beautiful will use its grant to create a community orchard to help feed residents.

The grant will be used by Keep Ozark Beautiful to prevent erosion in the area by replacing trees to help sustain mountains and farmland.

In 2008, the UPS Foundation adopted a new global philanthropic strategy with a focus on environmental sustainability. The foundation has offered $150,000 in grants to KAB this year.
