Texarkana, Hot Springs awarded national recycling grants
LITTLE ROCK (May 15, 2013) – The national Coca-Cola/Keep America Beautiful Recycling Bin Grant Program has selected the City of Texarkana and the Hot Springs A&P Commission/Visit Hot Springs to receive recycling receptacles.
The two Arkansas entities were chosen from more than 150 applicants across the nation. Winners were selected based on level of need, recycling experience and the ability to sustain the program over time.
“Convenience is one of the main issues when it comes to recycling,” said Robert Phelps, director of Keep Arkansas Beautiful (KAB) and the state leader in Arkansas for Keep America Beautiful. “By placing recycling bins in heavy-traffic areas, we hope to eliminate any impediments to recycling.”
The program provides receptacles for use in various settings – special events, general utility and prestigious locations. This program is designed to support and expand recycling in communities across the United States. More than 5,000 recycling bins were awarded nationally, with most designed for permanent, ongoing use. The Coca-Cola Recycling Bin Grant Program is made possible through grants from The Coca-Cola Foundation. For more information about this program, visit BinGrant.org.
