KAB director represents Arkansas
Keep America Beautiful, Inc. has elected Robert Phelps, director of the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission (KAB), to its national board of directors.
In this new leadership role, Phelps will represent the interests of 24 Keep America Beautiful state affiliate programs plus a nationwide network of more than 600 local affiliates. He will assist Keep America Beautiful with its programs to educate Americans about making the nation’s communities cleaner, greener, safer and more livable.
Phelps has served as director of the Commission for 14 years. Since retiring from a successful career in advertising, Phelps has used his marketing background to help KAB raise awareness of the harmful effects of litter and to promote recycling and beautification.
Phelps serves on the board of directors of the Arkansas Recycling Coalition and the Arkansas Scenic Highways Commission, is a charter member of the Governor’s Anti-Litter Task Force and is secretary-treasurer of the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Foundation. A former president of the Arkansas Advertising Federation and the Town Club of Little Rock, he has served as vestryman and senior warden at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Little Rock. He is also a past chairman of the Keep America Beautiful State Leaders Council.
