Call for entries: Keep Arkansas Beautiful launches spring poster contest

Elementary teachers encouraged to enter classrooms in statewide contest

The Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission (KAB) has opened entry submission for their annual Great American Cleanup in Arkansas Youth Poster Contest.

Elementary teachers for grades kindergarten through fifth grade are encouraged to enter at least one poster from their classroom that focuses on litter prevention, beautification and recycling efforts and/or litter-free communities. Youth groups such as 4-H, the Boys and Girls Club and Scouts are also welcomed to enter the annual poster contest.

“We are re-energizing our annual spring poster contest and hope to double the amount of entries during this year’s contest,” said Mark Camp, KAB executive director.

Entries to the poster contest can be submitted up to Feb. 29, 2020. Posters will be judged in two divisions, Grades K-2 and Grades 3-5. Each entry must have the student’s name, teacher’s name and email address, and school contact information for consideration.

Posters can be drawn on any medium of paper but must 8.5” x 11” paper. Winning posters will be announced during Earth Week and posters will be featured on KAB’s social media. Additional prizes and display of posters will be announced closer to Earth Week.

“The youth poster contest provides teachers the opportunity to integrate litter prevention, beautification and recycling topics into their curriculum,” said Camp. “We hope this contest will be used as a tool to educate students about the impact of litter on our state and how students can protect our state’s natural beauty.”

Entries must be mailed to Keep Arkansas Beautiful, 1 Capitol Mall, Suite 4A-007, Little Rock, AR 72201.  For details on how to enter, go to
