Keep Arkansas Beautiful, local groups earn national awards from Keep America Beautiful

LITTLE ROCK (Feb. 12, 2016) – The Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission (KAB) has been recognized with several honors from Keep America Beautiful Inc., the nation’s premier community environmental improvement organization.

KAB has earned its sixth consecutive Diamond Level State Affiliate designation. Arkansas is one of only nine states to attain Diamond Level status, which is awarded to Keep America Beautiful certified state affiliates that have received five consecutive President’s Circle Gold Awards.

Criteria for each award include providing tailored support to local affiliates, proactively marketing Keep America Beautiful programs, maintaining regular communications with Keep America Beautiful and local affiliates, implementing at least two program activities within the state, undergoing professional development training, encouraging local training, and awarding recognition.

Additionally, five certified local affiliates in Arkansas of Keep America Beautiful qualified for the President’s Circle Gold Award: Keep Bryant Beautiful, Keep Fayetteville Beautiful, Keep North Little Rock Beautiful, Keep Sherwood Beautiful and Keep Van Buren Beautiful.

“We are incredibly proud of the hard work our local affiliates put into creating clean and green communities in Arkansas,” said Robert Phelps, KAB executive director and Keep America Beautiful state leader in Arkansas. “We are thrilled to see their efforts nationally recognized.”
