More and more travelers are seeking out eco-friendly hotels and lodges, or eco-tourism activities, or restaurants with local food and organic options. And by “more and more,” we mean two-thirds of travelers!
According to Forbes.com: “TripAdvisor.com shows that nearly two-thirds of travelers … often or always consider the environment when choosing hotels, transportation and meals. The survey… also shows that 69% say they plan to make even more eco-friendly choices. …”
Those are some big numbers – and lots of potential income for your business! It’s time to promote your site’s green, eco-friendly, sustainable practices!
The Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission (KAB) has rolled out its new Green Hospitality Initiative, especially designed for you – Arkansas’s hospitality providers – to demonstrate and promote your on-site sustainable practices.
KAB has created a full portfolio of promotional materials that you can easily download for free, customize with your logo and information, produce in-house or at a quick-print shop, and display at your establishment to publicize to guests your commitment to sustainable practices. These materials spotlight the ways your property is integrating sustainable practices into its daily operations.
Do you ask guests to consider using bath towels more than once to conserve water?
Do you provide recycling bins on your property or cigarette butt/ash receptacles?
Do you offer locally grown food on your menu or locally made products in your gift shop?
Do you use LED bulbs in your light fixtures?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions (and, perhaps, implement even more sustainable practices on your property), then you are a Green Hospitality provider! The free promotional materials from KAB – available at GreenTravelArkansas.com – can help promote to your guests your site’s commitment to green practices. Materials available to you include:
- Trash and Recycle Bin Decals
- Water Conservation Hanger (for Towel Racks)
- Toiletries Tent Card (for Bathrooms
- Rack Card (for Brochure Displays)
- Counter Card (for In-Room, Check-in Desk or POS/Cash Register)
- Bed Linens Tent Card (for In-Room)
- Table Tent (for Restaurants and Room Service Trays)
The Green Hospitality Initiative is part of KAB’s statewide Clean & Green Public Awareness Campaign to educate Arkansans and visitors to our state about the priceless value we place on keeping The Natural State free of litter, maintaining our scenic beauty, conserving our natural resources and maximizing our quality of life.
Your participation in the Green Hospitality Initiative will be bolstered by publicity efforts statewide that KAB is underwriting – including billboard advertising, social media messages, TV and radio PSAs, and other publicity efforts. Both the Green Hospitality Initiative and the Clean & Green Campaign carry a complementary design (images, colors, etc.), to reinforce to travelers that Arkansas’s hospitality industry is working together – that we are united – in our efforts to keep The Natural State just that: natural.
