Location: Cabot Junior High-South’s Parking Lot
Address: 38 Panther Trail

Volunteers are needed for Cabot’s annual fall litter-pickup campaign on Saturday, September 24th, 2016. Sponsored by Cabot City Beautiful (CCB), the cleanup is being held in conjunction with the Great Arkansas Cleanup, the annual fall statewide litter pickup campaign presented by Keep Arkansas Beautiful, a state affiliate of Keep America Beautiful Inc.  “Cabot Clean-Up: Fall 2016” will be held on Saturday, September 24th, from 9:00a.m. until 12 noon.

“Litter is a problem in the Cabot area,” says CCB Event Coordinator Matt Webber. “It is illegal to litter. We need to clean it up & keep it off the sides of our roads and out of our parks & waterways.”

Everyone in the Cabot community is encouraged to participate in this year’s litter-pickup effort. Civic and service organizations, church and youth groups, school groups and clubs, scouts, individuals, families, neighborhoods, and businesses can put together a cleanup crew and pitch in.

Volunteers should meet at Cabot Junior High-South’s Parking Lot ( located at 38 Panther Trail ).  Participants should arrive at 9:00am on Saturday morning & check-in with event staff.  Volunteers will be assigned routes, if they have not already designated their own area(s) of concern.  Orange safety vests & garbage bags will be provided.  Participants are encouraged to bring a sturdy pair of work-gloves with them & wear good walking shoes.  At noon, all volunteers will then meet back at the CJHS Parking Lot to enjoy some free food & drinks.

The main areas of concern, for the clean-up effort, will be the main thoroughfares into the city.  “A great first impression is very important.  We hope to facilitate the opportunity for our citizens to develop a sense of “Cabot Pride”, while at the same time welcoming guests & visitors to our community.” commented Angela White, CCB President.  “We always try to spruce-up around here, just before all the visitors come into town for Cabotfest.”

In contrast with the annual Spring Cabot Clean-Up event, the Fall edition will NOT include a Drive-Thru “Drop-Off” for Trash, Tires or Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) materials.  “This year’s Fall campaign focuses strictly on LITTER PICK-UP ONLY. Period.  We will have all areas & features available next Spring, but for this project we are concentrating on really cleaning up the trash along roadways in Cabot.” Webber stated.
