Are you interested in helping clean up the Arkansas River? Call and register to join a local portion of the Keep Arkansas Beautiful’s Great Arkansas River Cleanup event. On Saturday, October 7, 2017, the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission – Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center will be taking out their educational barge and picking up litter in the Arkansas River near Lock & Dam 13. Cash for Trash

The Trash Bash Council will host their “Cash for Trash” event on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Each year, up to ten groups of volunteers apply to take part in a shoreline cleanup of lakes Hamilton and Catherine. While the fall event focuses mainly on the nearby streets, this spring event occurs during the winter months when the lakes are drawn down exposing the lake bed and shoreline – offering great access to a lot of areas where trash and litter pile up that are inaccessible during the summer. Teams can earn up to $200 as they are paid a bounty of $5 per bag of trash by the Council and are given the opportunity to raise additional fundraising dollars on their own through donations.
