Cabot Cleanup Day & HHW Round-Up
Times: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Time is drawing near for the next “Cabot Clean-Up Day”, the annual spring effort to pick up trash and litter from around Cabot. This event will again be co-sponsored by the City of Cabot & Cabot City Beautiful, and will be held in conjunction with the national “Great American Clean-Up” Campaign & statewide “Keep Arkansas Beautiful” Month. “Cabot Clean-Up & Hazardous Waste Round-Up 2017” will be held on Saturday, April 22nd, from 9 a.m. until 12’ noon.
Everyone in the Cabot area is encouraged to participate in this city-wide cleanup endeavor: Civic & service organizations, church & youth groups, school groups & clubs, scouting groups, individuals, families, neighborhoods & businesses. There will be 2 Main Events: a Litter Pick-Up & a Drop-Off.
Litter Pick-Up Volunteers should meet at Briarwood Baptist Church located at 1872 Willie Ray Drive, no earlier than 9:00a.m. on Saturday morning & check-in at the Registration Canopies. Volunteers will be assigned routes by event coordinators, if they have not already designated their own area(s) of concern. Orange safety vests & garbage bags will be available. Participants are encouraged to bring sturdy work gloves & good walking shoes/boots.
There will also be an Awards Presentation Ceremony at 9:00am for the “Keep Cabot Beautiful” Poster Contest winners; Grades K-4.
At noon, all volunteers are invited to meet back at the Church Parking Lot to enjoy some free food & drinks. Centennial Bank’s Grill Team will be on-site for the cooking!!
“Cabot is an amazing community. We all have a responsibility to keep it clean and attractive,” says Tamara Hargrove, president of Cabot City Beautiful, Inc. “If Cabot is littered & ill-kept, our potential to attract industry & tourism is significantly impacted. A fresh coat of paint, a few new flower plantings, roadsides & waterways free of litter; they all can make a big difference in Cabot’s future. We need volunteers to come out & help us Keep Cabot Beautiful!”
Cabot City Beautiful knows that the magnificent folks in Cabot care about their community & the environment, and making their city the very best it can be. CCB wants to encourage you & your neighbors, local businesses, civic groups, school clubs & our churches to spend just a few hours in helping to accomplish another great feat for the community & making Cabot a town that we can all be extremely proud of. Good things really are happening!
This year’s local “Great American Cleanup” co-coordinator, Matt Webber, stated that CCB will provide a drive-thru Drop-Off at the Cabot Street Department, located at the End of Willie Ray Drive. The Drop-Off service will allow for the disposal of various Electronic Waste (E-waste) & Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) materials, to include latex paints (waste & recyclable), oil-base paints/thinners, motor oil, antifreeze, fluorescent bulbs, pesticides & herbicides, household cleaners, household batteries (nicad, alkaline & lithium), automotive batteries & tires(must-be-off-the-rim). Computer components, TVs, VCRs, and other types of electronic equipment will be accepted. Any appliance containing Freon must have proper documentation stating that the Freon is legally removed. If not, items will not be accepted. Scrap metals will be collected by Boy Scout Troop 201. They will also have “Paper Shredding” available for personal documents that you wish to dispose of. No businesses please. All these drop-off services will be available for the community on Clean-Up Day = for one day only and at “no charge” to the public. However donations, to cover the substantial expense, can be made to Cabot City Beautiful, Inc.
